Social Networking for Readers

booksAbout a year ago I joined LibraryThing. I wasn’t really looking for a place to connect with other readers, more to keep track of the books I’ve read and those that are part of my personal library. I participate only sporadically in the discussions and mostly just the fun and ridiculous ones like “do you love or hate facial hair on romantic heroes?”. I love absurd conversations. The thing that I like best about LibraryThing is to be able to see my entire library at nearly a glance in a beautifully visual way. They also have a great program called Early Reviewers where you can have to chance to get an advance copy of a book to review. I discovered a fantastic new author via the program which was pretty great. If you’re interested in trying out a social networking site for readers, here’s a list to get you started. Feel free to add any in the comments that I’ve missed.
