One of the things that really inspires me is beautiful paper. I try to find pretty and unique papers to use for my Hide-a-Book paperback book covers and one of my favorites types is handmade paper. My local paper store stocks a dizzying array of amazing, handmade papers from around the world. There’s yuzen and chiyogami papers from Japan with traditional woodblock prints or beautiful modern interpretations of traditional motifs. Papers from India and Nepal made from cotton and lokta have an interesting leaf-like texture with patterns ranging from simple to ornate. European papers reflect the history and sophistication of master painters. There are so many lovely and creative choices that’s it’s hard to walk out with just a few. I’ve selected some of my favorites to share with you in book covers that I hope you will like as much as I do. You can find all of these book covers in my shop.
